A Cholesteatoma interview .

Julia's interview

How did all start?

I have had eardrum tubes 3 times when I was 5,6 and 7 years old. When I was 20 it all started again, several times tubes but my ear infection would'nt stop. I have had an CT scan and an MRI but they still could not find where my infection came from. Then they decided to do an surgical investigation and then they find cholesteatoma. And then it was back again within a year so I have had another surgery.

Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?

Yes, I think over a year.

What have been your biggest difficulties?

Tinnitus for sure.

How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?

My parents were scared during the surgery. I have been very scary before the first surgery.

What things have you stopped doing?

listening to music during concerts without protection.

What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?

Scuba diving.
