Scarlet was born in London in March 2006. She was diagnosed with GM1 Gangliosidosis in October 2006 in Perth, Australia while in transit from London to Auckland, New Zealand where her family was relocating. Scarlet was assessed at Auckland Starship Childrens hospital where a community based palliative care team was appointed. Scarlet's development regressed during 2007 during which time she had several siezures & a coupe of admissions to Starship Childrens hospital. In late November her condition deteriorated markedly & she died peacefully in her sleep of respiratory failure in the early hours of 27 November 2007. Scarlet is survived by her older sister & now has 2 brothers, none of whom have GM1.
