Daughter 23 months

It started with a big fever and sore neck, and she was unusually distressed. I knew from the start something sinister was at play. The first visit to the doctor that day saw she had enlarged tonsils. That night I went to emergency. Her fever was raging, something was not right. After more pain relief she settled, and still only enlarged tonsils were presenting, however with no sign of infection. I have never before been concerned about a fever, I had only administered her pain relief once before in her life, and she had never had antibiotics to treat an infections. She had a strong immune system. Day 2 her neck swelled out on the left side, and administered her antibiotics for tonsillitis. Day 3 back to the GP, to check we were definitely dealing with tonsillitis, doctor ordered a blood test for mumps, I requested a ultra sound of the neck. The imaging service sent us staring to ED. Ultrasound showed enlarged lymph nodes, was sent home, and told to give the tonsillitis antibiotics another 24hours. Day 4 back to ED in the morning. She was very miserable. The neck had become very red, and rash had started over her body. Diagnosis a possible infected lymph node, and admitted to receive IV antibiotics. Day 4 and 5. Day 6 many doctors later a senior paediatrician diagnosed my daughter with Kawasaki syndrome, and she was treated hours later with immediate results. Her heart echo showed one of her coronary arteries is slightly dilated. We are awaiting the 6 week check up to see if this resolves.
