My Life with MM

April 2003 they found that I had MM in a mild form, I should wait before getting treated. June 2006 started with HOVON 65 cure followed Januari 2007 with mini Allo Stem Cell Transplant. Since June 2006 I am treated at the LUMC acedemic hospital in Leiden, Netherlands. Since then I received 5 DLI (Donor Lymphocytes Infuses), several chemo's, thanks Bortozomib I lost my concentration, got nerve pain and got dry mouth / dry eyes. Now I'm treated with Carfilzomib (40 mg); Lenalidomide (5 mg) and Dex (5 mg) in a 4 week cycle. During all the years I received at 15 spots radiations session. (mostly 5 session per spot, sometimes 1.) Due to radiation I develeoped Lymphedema. As I wanted to get the best treatment for lymphedema I became an axpert patient. My wife became a sales rep for DoctorLife SIPC-therapy treatment (our website is www.doctorlife.nl). We keep prices low as we want everybody to be able to buy it if they have this disease. The Dutch are petty good, despite their small market, to negotiate for best price. So if you want info about lymphedema check our site. At the moment I had my thighbone broken due to a big lesie of 2,5 x 4 cm. We tried rest and radiation, but change of breaking appeared to be 80-85 %. Had we knew this we would have taken other action and accepted to insert a pin in the bone.

My rule to cope with the disease is: Be positive, know your limitations and act accordingly. Don't look far into the future, live the day.
