Disability

It can be very hard, especially if your presentation isn't severe. The best thing to do is gather as much information to present as possible from your doctor. They will have you evaluated by their own doctor though, which can be tough because most doctors aren't familiar with the condition. They could argue that you can still work because "it just affects your voice" yes, I've heard this. You have to show that your appointments, surgeries, and treatments make it difficult to work. As an adult you will be denied. Then you have to go to a lawyer. Most work based on only getting a fee once you get approved and out of your lump sum (as long as you try again right after denial they count all the time since you first applied but not if you let it lapse. I can't guarantee you will get it in the end. I only know from what others have said about getting disability but for other conditions. And for my child's which wasn't denied because my kid has autism and they tend to approve kids on the first try. If you have Facebook I recommend looking up the RRP support group on there. There's a ton of great information, especially for self-advocacy.

Kristin has it nailed -- I could not get disablity since I am employed which proved to the SS department that I am perfectly fine.
