How did all start?

I was having chest pain and thought it was cardiac related but granulomas and enlarged lymph nodes were seen on a chest CT. I had a bronchoscopy done with biopsies and confirmed it was sarcoidosis.

Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?

Yes, I was treated for asthma for several years, when in fact, it was sarcoidosis.

For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?

Pulmonology

What has been the most useful thing for you so far?

I have a very involved pulmonologist.

What have been your biggest difficulties?

Coming to terms with my quality of life at my age.

How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?

My family is very supportive and positive.

What things have you stopped doing?

I can no longer do vigorous activities due to shortness of breath.

What do you think about the future?

I'm hopeful but at the same time scared.

What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?

Work out more. Try to lose weight.

If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?

Beautiful and crazy, full of love for my family, American dream.

Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?

Keep your head up, there are alot of treatment options that are out there.
