Story about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome .

28 years with BFRD

Jun 28, 2016

I started out as a nail chewer and hair chewer when I was a child. At age 13 I stopped nail biting and started cracking my knuckles. Age 14 began a 14 year struggle with an eating disorder. At 18 I began pulling out all my eyelashes and eyebrows and picking at the cuticles of my nails.  By 21 I began face and body skin picking and have been doing it ever since. I obsess over my skin being smooth and if I feel any bump anywhere I compulsively have to dig it out or pick/scratch it off. My skin is riddled with scars and hyperpigmentation. Body Focused Repetitive Disorder has caused me so much shame, embarrassment and pain. My wish is that doctors have more information about this form of OCD and find better ways to treat those of us that have it.
