Story about Aortic Dissection .

June 2006

By: Alison

I dissected at work on a warm &  sunny  summer day. Rushed to local hospital with hardly any blood pressure. Diagnosed in 9 hours & transferred to Manchester Heart Centre. Aortic Dissection Type A. Arch repaired. Very fit & well beforehand without symptoms or apparent causes.

Am now dissected arch to iliac, brachiocephalic & subclavian & to carotid.  Work full time and manage pain & keep blood pressure low. Do not lift weight over approx 10lbs.

Am restricted physically but cope with help from family.

Changes in local NHS have left me feeling vulnerable and anxious.
