How did all start?
I would have ichy rashes all over my body when contacted with water(all kind) at the age of 8.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I do. A dermatologist doctor friend of my dad( who is also a doctor) coincidentally had a chance to observe the reactions. She diagnosed it.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I used Claritine for a long time. But due to its sedative side effect I couldnt use it regularly. But even I use it regularly, the feedback was not much. My body still hurts.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Lessening the contact with water.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
I live in a very humid place where I sweat all the time. And sweat is much more painful than tap water. Also I have mild breathing problems when I have a runny nose.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
My family is supportive. People usually think I am joking or mistaking it with water phobia. I remember, back in the high school we had a some problems with my non-understanding p.e. teacher.
What things have you stopped doing?
I dont go out a lot during summer. I dont swim much anymore. Having a bath takes a lot of time because I need to wait my skin to go back to normal.
What do you think about the future?
I hope it does not go worse.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The beginning of the urticaria was better. It was just red and itchy, but now it is less visible but more painful.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Have a loooong nice bath
