I was wondering if there was a spot to clarify the type of FD we have. There is monostotic, polyostotic and McCune-Albright syndrome with polyostotic (which i have) ? I did not see McCune-Albright syndrome on the list.
Monostotic, polyostotic and McCune-Albright syndrome are types of Fibrous Dysplasia? Or McCune-Albright syndrome are a different condition?
McCune Albright syndrome is a separate disease that affects the bones, skin and several hormone producing tissues (endocrine). People with McCune albrights develop polyostotic fibrous dysplasia.
Monostotic (one bone) and Polyostotic (several bones) are the different types of Fibrous Dysplasia.
The reason i asked was because i have noticed that some just refer to the condition in general as fibrous dysplasia, but for those like myself who have McCune-albright syndrome.. we will have fibrous dysplasia, but my doctors refer to my bone disease as McCune-Albright syndrome not just fibrous dysplasia.
the way i have been told about fibrous dysplasia is: Monostotic is the most common, then polyostotic and then full mccune-albrights. Of course all "level" or "types" of fd are RARE.
