Carly's interview

How did all start?

Back in September 2014 I finished work and felt violently sick and exhausted. Following week Or so I couldn’t eat, drink and was always fatigued. It got to point my kidneys were so sore from dehydration that I went to the hospital which confirmed I was pregnant and had a UTI. I then went to see my GP which sent me for an ultrasound which we then discovered the molar pregnancy. Following Monday I was admitted and had my D&C.

Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?

When I was in having the ultrasound, the doctors then knew something wasn’t right and sent me back to my GP which explained everything and set up my appointment with Gynaecologist surgeon. But after 6 weeks my HCG levels risen and I had to have 7 rounds of Chemotherapy

For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?

I had my D&C, then weekly blood test for first 6 months and monthly following 6 months. Plus chemo

What has been the most useful thing for you so far?

Keep busy!! Don’t dwell on it and not focus on it

What have been your biggest difficulties?

The fear of it happening again

How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?

I found when I spoke about it no one knew about it at all! But it’s made me and my partner closer.

What things have you stopped doing?

Nothing.

What do you think about the future?

Of it happening again.

So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?

I’ve gotten on with life.

What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?

Nothing. It’s made me a stronger person

If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?

Get knocked down but get back up!

Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?

Lean on the people around you in tough times. KEEP BUSY! The more you keep busy and go about your life the better it is to move on
