How did all start?
About 1 year ago.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes. Not long, because I got a cyst in my armpit.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I was given doxy at urgent care. It worked great. But kids aren't supposed to take it. It yellows the teeth. I'm 12. The doctor messed up.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
I learned already, that my cysts are from night shades. Kool-aid and Sprite are my poison.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
It hurts. I got a huge one in my ear, that covered the whole cover of the ear. It's hard to put on deodrant. When two cysts grow next to each other, that is like double the pain.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Not really. I'm home schooled. I don't have any friends in this State. I'm an awkward teenager and don't go outside.
What things have you stopped doing?
No.
What do you think about the future?
It's gonna hurt.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
I guess now, because I don't really remember that much of my childhood. I've gone fishing, bowling, movies, batting cages, out to eat with my Big Brother from the Big Brother foundation.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
It's not that bad yet, hopefully not at all and it will stay like this, if I never smoke.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I haven't been alive that long. I'm only 12.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Stay happy. Don't let your condition bring you down. Be confident.
