Med-Sed (Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia - Spondylo-Epiphyseal Dysplasia) compared with Morquio

- Agreements between Morquio and Med-Sed. Both are growth failure due to defects in the growth plates. The disease has a similar progress and problems.

- Difference between Morquio and Med-Sed. Morquio is a metabolic disease and Med-Sed is genetically Determined. Med-Sed can only be determined by DNA testing.

Because DNA testing is used only after the nineties, Med-Sed only comes into the picture as being a separate disease group. Of course this disease Existed before the nineties, but the older patient's were then've given a misdiagnosis, such as Morquio - Perthes - Bechterew - PSACH - Scheuermann - Maroteaux etc.

In 1956 I got diagnosed with Morquio and in 1976 I was a co-founder the Dutch Society Morquio and became the president until the Society was incorporated in 2015 into the http://www.stofwisselingsziekten.nl/?s=morquio (is an association of all metabolic disorders). The late eighties it became clear to me that I have not had the Morquio disease. It was only in 2012 I received the final results of my DNA research with the result MED !  On 27-4-2013 the http://www.med-sed.nlwas established, of which I am currently the treasurer.
