A Usher Syndrome story

Feb 7, 2016

When I was 5 I went to hospital with a tummy bug consultant told my parents I was deaf.

When I started Junior School a girl told my teacher I could not see the  board so had eyes tested and got glasses

When I was 11 I started getting headaches

Had more eye test and got stronger glasses  one day they referred me to moorfields eye hospital in london spent most of the day there having test

My parents were told of my condition but they kept it from me  till i was 18  i suppose they wanted me to carry on while i can at this time I still don't know what was happening

I  was 20 when i took my partner with me 2 moorfields eye hospital and thats when professor Bird sat down front of me  and explain my condition 2 me and it would not get worse for at lease 3o to 40 years.

My sight started change 18 years later

I have a family of 6 children and the sight is all ok I have four grandchildren  there  no sign of usher

I don't work at moment I am a volunteer in sight support services in our local hospital giving  advice on service and info on there eye condition

Also help with some groups tea coffe and chat

We all so go on trips to the theatre / palace of Westminster  / Bank of England these are all audio describe
