How did all start?
i actually thought it was my thyroid acting up. started to get crazy heart stuff going on so i went to the hospital where i was promptly admitted. received 2 units of blood. and was in hospital for 5 days.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
took about 2 weeks for the initial diagnosis after my hospital stay
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
hematologist
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
time off work has been a great help. not having to stress about getting enough sleep to make it through the day and all of that. and support from some close friends and family
What have been your biggest difficulties?
depression. definitely the biggest difficulty!
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
my good friends have been great. very supportive. some friends don't understand why i am so tired all the time.
What things have you stopped doing?
pushing myself! i have started to make the time needed to recover. i used to just try to power through but now i don't.
What do you think about the future?
i think the future will be challenging but i will be able to get through it
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
take time for you!! you need to rest!! don't try to push through the fatigue you will just dig yourself deeper. let friends and family help you.
