Behcets Syndrome Causes

As far as i know they dont really know, most recon genetic

I have asked my doctors too but they really don't know . They think that it caused by genetical raisons and maybe the geneological dna plays a role too .

There is not yet a well-understood cause across the board. Some people have a certain lymphocyte marker that has been associated with Behcet's disease, which suggests a genetic link. Another clue that points towards genetics as a cause is that it is seen in certain "silk-road" associated populations, such as people from Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Jews. 

However, not all people with these genetic risk factors develop Behcet's, and some Behcet's patients show no known genetic link to an affected population. 

So there may also be an environmental exposure that makes us more susceptible. 

Research is ongoing, and we hope that some day we will have a better answer. To do that, it would help to be able to identify more people who have Behcet's and to have them undergo genetic testing as part of a formal study where data can be collected and analyzed. 

 

 

The doctors don't have enough knowledge about it so it's really difficult to find the actual reason.

Some cases are obvious genetically  but others show no link to genetics. 

In fact there aren't too many patients and the studies about BD are still poor. In my country three are approximately 100 people suffering from Behçet's but till now I spoke with one of them only. It proofs that we still need to get some knowledge to understand it better. 

it seems it mostly genetic or can also be environmental. My mother carries what they call the Mediterranean gene. I do not. They think in my case there could be a link. I have suffered from mouth ulcers since a toddler.
