How did all start?
Started in early 20s with severe fatigue and muscle pain .
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Diagnosed around 32 when I developed hypothyroidism and insulin resistance as well. Around 10 years
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
OBGYN was the first to help in any way. I've been mostly help by a naturopath NP
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Learning about MTHFR gene mutation and how it's affecting my sensitivities and fibromyalgia. Cupping and massage helps with detoxing
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Finding medical help that would listen and look for anything beyond depression. And actually help me function be6
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
My immediate family has some perfume allergies themselves. Socially and work related issues are ongoing and very problematic.
What things have you stopped doing?
Limit work,and socializing with those who don't care or believe I have the right to breath or not have a debilitating headache. Stopped going to stores with air fresheners I can't avoid. Had to switch vets and dry cleaners because they wouldn't take out a new plug in
What do you think about the future?
I doubt much will change. Til they can link them to cancer or other wide spread medical issue like they did will cigarettes
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
When I lived in the country I had fewer chemical sensitivities and less symptoms
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Be able to go where I want when I want without fear of becoming sick because of toxic unnecessary scents
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Limited because of others preferences and insensitivity
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Try to limit exposure as much as possible
