A Glaucoma story

Dec 12, 2015

At three months old I was shocked early one morning when I noticed Evans right eye was clouded. I couldn't see his pupil. I had no idea what was wrong. I immiedatly ran to his pediatrician. They wired so hard to figure out what was wrong. They didn't know because they weren't specialist so they were able to send us to one. Once we arrived and the doctor saw him. It was not ten seconds later that they told us it's congenial glaucoma. The next day we were at children's hospital Los angeles, given eye drops to bring the pressure down. A week later he went in for his first goniotomy. There were three more goniotomy operations as well as a baerveldt shun implanted in Evans left eye. We have had so many issues between surgeries with him not eating, bleeding from they eye and worrying if the procedures would work. I am grateful that now at 8 years old his eyes are doin great. Pressures have been pretty stable for the most part. Evan is a very active child and he amazes me everyday.
