A Osteochondritis Dissecans interview .

Michelle's interview

How did all start?

Injury to my ankle resulting in multi breaks and dislocation of talus.

Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?

Yes. DX is complicated. I went 18 months without knowing because my OS didn't tell me I had it. It showed in the first x ray after surgery, it was in the radiologist report. I had an x ray in Sept, 2017 due to pain and that's when I technically found out. It had progressed and was very visible.

What have been your biggest difficulties?

Knowing that my life won't be the same.

How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?

They support me and understand that things have changed.

What things have you stopped doing?

Walking very far.

What do you think about the future?

It's going to become even more difficult for me.

So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?

30 - 35. Just overall healthier.

What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?

Exercise

If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?

Tired.

Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?

Get the best doctor that you can.
