How did all start?
I had GBS in 2008, I have permanent nerve damage from it.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes, it took them weeks to get my diagnosis.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I was treated for GBS, I'm being treated for nerve pain, migraines and many other health conditions.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Finding support groups has been great but I didn't find them until years later.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Not knowing If what I was going through is normal , if I was the only one experiencing these symptoms, health issues?
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Yes, I have alot less family and friends around. I stay at home more so I'm alot less social.
What things have you stopped doing?
I've stopped driving as much, I'm not as active, I've stopped working.
What do you think about the future?
Not much I take it day by day.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
All years are the best because I have my son and I do my best to be strong for him.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
I would like to work with animals, I would like to have my own farm.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I am blessed.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Take life day by day, talk to friends or family, get rest, don't be ashamed of your condition hold your head up. Your not alone!
