I went from a young vibrant mother who coached three kids soccer teams, was the girl scout leader, volunteered at school, etc... All while working a full time job and attending school myself. In October of 2012, I started losing weight quickly with no explination, and received no help from doctors. After going from 115 pounds to 83 pounds in a month in a half, not being able to eat or drink anything, I finally found ...a doctor who could help me. When the doctor hospitalized me, my body was shutting down, and I was molding. After several months of enteral nutrition, I was finally at a place where I could feel somewhat human again. Five years later, I no longer have enteral nutrition, and my weight has been steady between 90-95 pounds, thank goodness, for the last few months. For now, my life consists of 24 hours a day with a heating pad, and not tolerating 98% of what I eat, but that's nothing compared to most with this disease. I've grown used to the vomiting, trips to the restroom all night, & what I lovingly call "alien belly". I doubt I'll ever be the person I used to be, but I'm blessed to have every day I have, and the love and support of my friends and family.
