A Ulcerative colitis story

Dec 2, 2

I was diagnosed with Colitis in August 2013, when I was 15. I tried so many medications pentasa, mercaptopurine, infliximab and others. I spent the first six months of 2015 on steroids, struggling to get through my AS Levels. I'd go to school where possible but go the day without eating, still struggling to stay away from the toilet. In August 2015, I was admitted to hospital with my worst flare yet. I was put on 120mg of IV steroids for a week and I was still deteriorating. A week later I was told I should have surgery the following day. This wasn't even a shock to me, having never had a period of remission since diagnosis, I knew I'd need surgery one day, I just didn't expect to need it this quick!! Now I'm living with a stoma and life is much easier not having to run to try and make it to the toilet in time
