Story about Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome .

ARDS Survivor

May 23, 2017

I am a survivor of bilateral pneumonia, H1N1, sepsis and ARDS.  My symptoms began with just a simple cough on March 5, 2016.  Ten days later, I was in ICU on a ventilator.  I was on the ventilator for 13 days.  During that time, I experienced horrifying nightmares.  I was taken of the ventilator on March 27 (Easter).  One week later, I was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital.  I was able to go home on April 8, 2016.
