A Aortic Dissection story

My type b aortic dissection was discovered when my daughter was 4months old (she is 4 now) i was at home on the morning it was discovered and got severe chest discomfort underneath my left breast and at the side of it. Went to local ER and few hours later it was discovered. I spent a week in the Itensive care unit of two different hospitals in adelaide and then was discharged home on BP medication and beta blockers. It was a very traumatic and scary experience for my family and i not knowing if i qas going to live or die.

Just read your story. How scary for you and your family 5 years ago. I also felt the same when i had my type b dissection, I'm fact, I still fear my death as my dissection was only in September, so it's still very raw. My father and brother have also had dissections, my father passed away from complications with the genetic mutation that he, my brother and I also have. Scary times at the moment. Thank you for sharing your story.
Hi Corinne Iam sorry to hear about your brother and father. Having a dissection is a very scary thing to have to live with and the fact its so unpredictable (ticking time bomb i think my specialist called it) :-( my specialist thinks my dissection was caused by pregnancy possibly 10years ago so its possible i had it a while before it was detected.There arent many of us in australia with this condition.
