Emrys Helstorm's interview

How did all start?

I was requested to see someone for behavioural issues by the school I attended.

Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?

I do, and it took a few interviews over the span of 3-4 months.

For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?

Unsure of how to answer this, it's not clear enough.

What has been the most useful thing for you so far?

My mimicry ability. It allows me to "copy" the reaction of others to blend in more.

What have been your biggest difficulties?

Understanding social cues, emotions, empathy, facial expressions and body language. This has lead to me being quite introverted, as I often offend people, so I don't like socializing.

How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?

My family environment didn't change at all. My social environment didn't change until I got older. I have lost quite a lot of friends because I have upset them in one way or another.

What things have you stopped doing?

Enjoying a lot of things I once did.

What do you think about the future?

It's bleak, I am not looking forward to it.

So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?

2016-2017. Last 2 years of high school. I wasn't having fun, but I wasn't being bullied for once. You could say it was peaceful.

What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?

I'd have loved to study physics at University.

If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?

A leaf blowing on a pretty mundane path.

Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?

I have none.
