How did all start?
it all started back in 2013 i went to the gym did my usual workout, i went home and had something to eat, and settled down to watch tv with my partner then the next thing i know im in an ambulance been told id had a cardiac arrest and was been rushed to hospital, on arrival at hospital i was taken into resus and had an ecg and when the doctor came to see me he told me i had brugada syndrome type 1 .
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
i had a diagnosis straight away.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
i had a medtronic icd fitted.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
my icd saving my life 5 times.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
not been able to do contact sports.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
nothing has changed really.
What things have you stopped doing?
contact sports and drinking alcohol .
What do you think about the future?
just to get on with it and keep myself healthy .
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
between 16 and 35 playing football with 2 teams i also played in france in a tourniment for 3 weeks.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
go on rides at fairgrounds.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
very complicated.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
just to keep focused and try and forget you have a condition and enjoy life as its too short as it is.
