Victim of Budd-Chiari Syndrome (BCS)
That was an outset ever had I visited to AIG Hospital (Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad, South in India); on the date 05.04.2017: 8:10 AM with an empty stomach; as per the instructions spoken by one of the medical staff over phone on the day before when I finished my breakfast and enquired, that date and time still in my memoirs. Casually, in order to check my stomach I thought to ask for an endoscopy, because I was having very slight pain in a lower abdomen frequently during mornings. Fortunately, in the first information diagnosis, the lady doctor has prescribed to undergo for blood test, endoscopy along with ultrasound scan of abdomen.
At evening of the day, the results were revealed normal in endoscopy and in blood test the sugar levels were slightly increased as I had been noticed that I was a diabetic two years before in Delhi by the physician. Whereas the ultrasound given drastic inference that I might being suffered with a chronic Budd Chiari Syndrome (BCS) as the hepatic veins were completely blocked and the liver is alternatively functioning with the help of ancillary veins surrounded by means of network developed around the hepatic veins. After observation by the senior Hematologist Dr Rajesh Gupta went on further investigations such as protein test, LFT, kidney function and CT scan. Dr. concluded based investigations that I had been suffering since when with chronic BCS. Due his unavailability in Hospital he prescribed some medicines for temporary relief and asked me to visit after one week. Meanwhile I had to go other place where we supposed to reside temporarily for subsistence. There were terrible days that I might be out of physical body. After a couple of days I suffered with lot more pain developed while taking soda and salt in local cool drinks due to hot summer.
That day after next, just returned to Hyderabad due to severe abdominal pain retained that lead me intolerable. Then the next Monday I had admitted in AIG Hospital as inpatient decided by Dr Rajesh Gupta on his observations when I revealed that quantum of pain suffered during those days in his absence. On Monday I remember i.e. 17.04.2017 taken to me as inpatient by admitting at 21:34:15 to the hospital. On that day onwards the treatment was initiated with fluids. The staff nurses taken blood sample twice a day for Pt INR and blood sugar levels. Firstly a team of doctors around 10 members pooled for discussions to avoid stenting and later they were in type of stenting. Ultimately the team decided for IVC stenting, done on 25.04.2017 around 12:00 noon at Cath lab. It was nearly took one and half an hour for IVC stenting under conscious state in order to monitor body condition during the process. Later they have shifted to ICU for 48 hours and then to the designated room. That ICU is a gateway to hell or waiting hall with painful sufferings……..eventually discharged on 02.05.2017 at 18:30:48. Specific diet for BCS was not advocated that lead me to come again to visit ICU. With a deep breathe I left for home. After a couple of months of IVC Stenting, the frozen shoulder slowly occupied at my right shoulder. That severely suffered me unable to lift a mugful water and hold a few seconds. After several months undergone a conventional physiotherapy, that was no use of it. Gradually with exercises for a minutes, I tried to perform sarvangasana with many efforts. So that was meaningful, the pain which was retained gradually vanished.
Venoplasty has been done on 26.08.2019, as the IVC stent on either side blocked due to clog of blood cells amid no free flow shown in Doppler’s test. My regular dose of Warfarin 5 mg was remain unchanged. I have been browsed several days for many times on diet plan of BCS, and most of variety of vegetables packed with Vitamin K should be avoided, specifically, Spinach, Broccoli, and purslane. Several edible oils were used had been replaced with refined pea nut oils etc. Most of salted foods felt junk so abandoned. Considering all three salt, sugar and vitamin K are monsters affecting my health. Basically I am a type II diabetic, found at the age of 50 years. The frozen shoulder appeared two months later on left shoulder this time after venoplasty. I have realized that might be lack of precautions were taken during the surgery.
Fed up with all tasteless edible stuff, On contrary to all these, I have made a native raw type much for myself, whenever feel bored, I used to take a spoonful of stuff for munch, that doesn’t contain any harmful quantity of salt, sugar or vitamin K or C. Several times my blood has been tested of prothrombin time and International Normalised Ratio (Pt/INR) shown less than 2.0 around in between 1.3–1.8 INR with warfarin intake of 5 mg every day. The normal range for a healthy person (other than me not using warfarin) is 0.8–1.2, and on warfarin therapy an INR of 2.0–3.0 is usually targeted, although the target INR may be higher in particular situations, such as for those with BCS. If the INR is outside the target range, a high INR indicates a higher risk of bleeding, while a low INR suggests a higher risk of developing a clot that could block the IVC stent.
In order to overcome all these permutations and combinations of the chemical dose, I have determined to go ahead on Natural blood thinners, which are more effective with less side effects on functional system of the body. This was the main reason I have adapted on naturals. Natural Health Remedy for BCS designed & implemented by myself (KGIRISAM). Basically when the person victimized by BCS should take care of his health based on intake food, drink etc., in other words as remedial measures. So what I have done, strictly following this procedure. Moreover, literally renunciation of salt intake followed by spicy. Hearsay it’s sattvic food.
Five stout cloves of fresh garlic daily in the morning, on an empty stomach with puffed rice mixture, being used since 2nd April, 2020.
Puffed rice fried with excess amount of turmeric with ratio, mustard seeds, chickpeas/peanuts in groundnut oil. (Note: turmeric shall be added at last in low heat of bowl).
The ingredients of the mixture are fennel seeds (saunf), betel nuts (crane brand hot variety), cloves (loang), cardamom (ilachi), poppy seeds (kus kus), carom seeds (ajwain), nutmeg (&mace), cassia & ceylon cinnamon (dalchini), kamarkas and haritaki. There is a clue of correction has been observed with the natural blood thinners. However, I have to maintain a balanced diet intake of all these stuff in order to prevent repercussion over my body.
