Brandy's interview
How did all start?
I lost the hearing in my ear several winters ago.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I was diagnosed after 10 years of severe headaches. I was told I was having rebound headaches from taking pain medication.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
I have found a wonderful doctor, that is continually trying to help me.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Just functioning with daily life. When I'm having clusters I'm totally brain dead and can't think.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
I became a hermit crab. I constantly cancel plans and stay in my room
What things have you stopped doing?
I stopped going to the gym, I don't want to make any commitments and have stopped my bowling league. I had a personal business that I could not put the effort into it that it needed.
What do you think about the future?
I'm concerned about losing my job. I want to take back my life.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The only thing that has been good is having a doctor trying to help.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Be happy.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
My head has taken control of my life and not for the good.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Don't give up.
