Christopher's interview
How did all start?
One day it just happened. No one knows how.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes, 1-2 years
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
MRI, EKG. None
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Knowing that I am not alone and acceptance.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Having no control or treatment. Nothing Prescribed works.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
No one understands the pain. So no support. Isolated myself.
What things have you stopped doing?
Nothing, during an episode...stop everything.
What do you think about the future?
I have not had a severe headache for 10 years now but every Spring and Fall I pray that I do not get another episode. So living in fear.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
Before the headaches and after the headaches. Living pain free, what more can I say.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Fortunately so far I have been free of the pain for 10 years. Just living now.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
With the headaches living in Hell. Without them Joy.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
It is impossible to give any advise. There is no cure and you cannot tell someone it's going to be alright because it never is. However, hang in there, seems age helps. By miracle I have not had a cluster headache for 10 years. So there is hope. But fear still lurks every Spring and Fall.
