Alan's interview
How did all start?
My colloid was there from birth by all accounts, not sure when it got to the level of having to be removed. I guess headaches started in 2010
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
yes, surgery was done may 2017. Im now post op
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I have had no interaction with any special treatment apart from meeting wit the neurosurgeon and the optomistrist for the follow up.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Family, Family, Family, colloid cyst survivors on facebook.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
My biggest difficulty has been relaxing, my nature is to go and keep going. Im was a socialite but find myself more relaxed without the crowd.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Friends here in the states don't seem to want to interact. Family are awesome
What things have you stopped doing?
working, anything strenuous. it tends to bring on headaches.
What do you think about the future?
im scared of the future, as I said earlier I was a person that likes to keep going and going, now I am not able to do this and im not able to be around large noisy groups of people. I have no idea where I am going next but I continue to look.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
21 to 44, when I quite my job things got bad but I also got cured and im just at the start of the new me so I really can't answer "what are the best years in my life", its just beginning.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
travel, charity work, help people.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
right now im trying to convince myself everything is great but also im going over my life and writing it down so forgive me for the negativity but I believe I got a pretty crap deal BUT it could be worse, I could be dead.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
stay positive, don't react, this is only a temporary situation and it will get better. we have been saved for a reason unknown to us, maybe you can help somebody else? WHO KNOWS why we were saved but we were.
