Sean's interview
How did all start?
Noticed blood in stool. Did not go away. Went to see my primary when I became irregular.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Diagnosed with Colon Cancer in 2011 within two months.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Oncology
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
The support from family, friends, and the colon cancer community.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Fatigue, constipation, acute pain at times.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
I have had wonderful support throughout my fight.
What things have you stopped doing?
Can't be as active as I want to be. Because of the recurrence and treatment to my spine, I have to be careful with rigorous activity.
What do you think about the future?
Just taking it one day at a time. My ultimate goal is to walk my daughter down the aisle. Beyond that, I am at peace with what comes.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
20-30s. Best health, we were a young family with everything in front of us.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Redistribute the money I spend on medical bills to trips with my family. A Mustang is on my bucket list too!
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Full, but I want more!
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Accept help, move around as much as you can, live, laugh, and LOVE.
