Shanna's interview
How did all start?
A horse back riding accident and a fusion surgery of my l2 to l4 vertebra
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes. But it took 6 years!
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Spine doctors, ND, and Pain management wit crps specifically.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Diet, exercise, massage essential oils, ketamine, and neuridronate
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Not being able to do what I want to do, and the constant never ending pain
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
My family has been great. Many people look at me and don't think I'm sick or think I'm faking. That is hard. I'm isolated a lot do to the pain and my inability to do things.
What things have you stopped doing?
Running, going out, taking care of my children alone, cleaning the house alone
What do you think about the future?
I have hope for a cure. I'm a fighter
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The year after my neuridronate. I did everything I physically could. Played with my children, built a house, ran 20 plus miles a week. I didn't know how long I would be pain free so I got as much out of it as I could.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Run, clean my house, play with my children, hike with my husband and travel.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I'm a CRPS warrior princess, God has prepared me my whole life for this fight, and with Him by my side I will be victorious.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Find a good support system, find a meaning to life higher than yourself, take care of yourself, and remember you were created for a specific purpose only you can do.
