Tiffany's interview
How did all start?
July 2012 I caught what I thought was the flu. I was hospitalized due to severe nausea, vomiting and dehydration. After 12 days admitted & 8 doctors opinions Cyclic Vomiting was finally discussed. I was treated & released. 3 months to the day I suffered another cycle & was diagnosed.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I was one of the lucky ones... I was diagnosed pretty quickly.
The autonomy Dysfunction has come after the cyclic. Still trying to find out if it is med related.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
People with Cyclic are NOT drug seekers. We don't want opioids... we just want the ER to follow our docs protocol. We aren't crazy!!
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
I'm lucky to have a supportive husband, family & friends. My relationships have not changed, I'm just not able to do quite as much as I used to.
What things have you stopped doing?
Drinking!
What do you think about the future?
I'm hopeful! Working with the docs at MGH is encouraging!
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Hang in there, you are not alone!!!
A cycle doesn't last forever!!
