Bellek583's interview
How did all start?
Started when I was 7 years old and had carried on my whole life, I am 31 so I have suffered with this condition for 24 years. As a child it was put down to something I had eaten, although it was a weekly cycle at the time. Now I am 31 and for a few years, it has been on a 2 weekly cycle each Friday night.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I was wrongly diagnosed at 19 with allergy to acid in foods. Now at 31 I am diagnosed with cvs.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Living a normal worry free life. You can go anywhere or so anything on the cycle days which affects every day life.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
I’d like to travel on holiday without the worry of this condition
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Stressful
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Don’t give up going to your doctor until you have a reasonable diagnosis and not be palmed off with some rubbish because they don’t have time for you, keep going back! I lived for 24 years just thinking it’s just the way things are, no reason for it. But there is, and when you have a diagnosis you feel much better about yourself that you’re not just a bother to everyone, you actually do have a real medical condition.
