I lived for 46 years without knowing that I had Ebstein's Anomaly. When I was little my Dr heard a sound that he diagnosed as Mitral Valve Prolaspe. He put it in my chart but never ordered an echo to verify this thoughts. It wasnt until I had several months of chest pain and muscle weakness that I was referred to a cardiologist who said "that sound is not MVP"....he ordered an echo and my EA was discovered at age 46. Since then I have had 2 cardiac ablations to correct AVNRT, but no interventions for my EA. I've never been an athlete...I always wondered why I wasnt able to run as fast and as long as the other kids could, why I was never able to ride my bike all the way up the hills. Now I know. Happy to say that even though I wasnt aware of my heart condition, I was able to have 3 healthy babies who have no heart defects.
