Trichotillomania is a psychiatric condition in which an individual has an uncontrollable desire to pull out his own body hair. It is generally considered to be an impulse control disorder but is sometimes classified as either a subtype or variant of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Some people swallow their own hair causing a hairball inside of their stomach which leads to health issues. It can also cause infection to the skin due to open pores and wounds. Some of the lost hair doesn't grow back and leaves bald patches which causes lesser self confidence.
