Gingerbread's interview
How did all start?
On reflection the pain had always been an issue but it was only after my third child was born (3rd cSection) that I sought medical help and diagnosis
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes, it was relatively quick compared to others. Around 6-8 months.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Rheumatology
Physical therapy
None have been helpful.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Just knowing my body and when to rest.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Everything! Having 3 children and parenting them mainly alone for 5 days a week, 14 hours a day, takes it toll.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
They are supportive. I'm fortunate my spouse is great at helping me as much as possible but you always feel a bit of a fraud with invisible illness, as though you are faking it or being dramatic.
What things have you stopped doing?
Living - I exist I don't live.
What do you think about the future?
I try not to
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The years between 23-33. I had my children, the pain wasn't there. I lived my life
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
LIVE! spend lots of time outdoors walking, play with my children, socialise.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Difficult, exhausting & empty.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
I wish I had good advice
