How did all start?
Seemed to start after my first menses
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I was diagnosed after 18 years. My childhood PCP did not believe in it
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Mainly primary care, naturopathy, and rheumatology. Naturopathy was the most useful
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
A product called Fibro Cream is the most effective topical and the most effective prescription taken orally is cymbalta.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Planning anything is difficult as is being dependable. I never know how I'm going to feel from day to day
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
My first marriage ended in divorce, mostly due to my inability to be very active due to my health. My family and my current husband are supportive
What things have you stopped doing?
Everything... sleeping
What do you think about the future?
I try not to. One day at a time will do
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
My 30's were decent. I did a lot of finding myself
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Are you kidding? Everything I can't do now
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Life has been challenging; more challenging when compared to some, less challenging when compared to others...we all live the life we're dealt.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
take one day at a time.
