How did all start?
Disabilitating pain in wrists, and ankle treated with surgery, nothing helped, pain was affecting gradually more parts of my body.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I Was diagnosed a couple of years later
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
It was a rheumatologist who diagnosed me, suddenly everything made sense. he couldn’t treat me, he prescribed paracetamol, and suggested group therapy, but that wasn’t in the town I lived, it would take too much effort to get there, I didn’t feel it would be worth the energy or the financial costs
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
SImply getting the diagnosis helped me understand why everything hurts and I’m not lazy just tired, the diagnosis means I can actively look for help
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Tiredness and pain, lack of energy
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
I am much more isolated
What things have you stopped doing?
Work, long walks, sport
What do you think about the future?
I have a fear of being helpless
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
I enjoyed my 30’s when my children were young
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
I always enjoyed long nature walks, and getting up early, keeping fit and trim, and just feeling energetic
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I can do it in one word,’ tiring’
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Get plenty of rest, don’t feel guilty, Enjoy the little things in life, and live for today
