My Hashimotos' Journey

I am a 65-year-old-woman who has been sick for a very, very long time. I was struglling with severe bacterial skin infections, extreme exhaustion and fatique and lack of energy. My Hasimotos' Throiditus was triggered by mold in the workplace. After three years there, I had to quit work becasue I was getting sicker and sicker. I was still undiagnosed and searching for answers. I had seen perhaps 8 to 10 different Western Midicine Physicians to no availe as they did not know and or prescribed antiobiotics. Finally I consulted with a yoga friend who is a trained massage therapist who also has thryoid disease. She recognized my symptoms, saw my hair loss and put me in touch with a Functional Medicine Physician (FMP)and I was finally diagnosed. I have been working with this FMP now for about five months. I have started a regimin of tests, supplements and 1/4 grain of Nature-Thryoid (thryoid medicine.) My FMP recommended going off of gluten, dairy and sugar, which I immediately did. I researched and began the Auto-Immune Protocal (AIP) as well in order to decrease the inflamation and my symptoms. I am now following this protocal closely. I have felt a difference as soon as I started the Nature-Thryoid and eachmonth I am on the AIP, I am feeling a difference. I know I have a long way to go yet, but I feel that I am on the right path so I am feeling hopeful. The biggest roadblock now is money as working with a functional medicine practitioner is expensive and much of the costs are out of pocket. But I have made the decision to invest in my health. If you are also searching for answers I recommend that you research Functional Medicine Physcians and AIP. There is a huge connection with Hasimotos' to gluten and inflammation.
