jcb267's interview
How did all start?
I started noticing leg stiffness and clumsiness when I walked
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes, it took 7 years
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I have been followed by a neurologist for many years, it is very helpful. I also see a chiropractor regularly, it seems to work great for me
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Stretching and light exercise
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Walking and tripping
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Most of them have not really reacted!
What things have you stopped doing?
I drastically reduced exercise just because some of it is no longer physically possible. I was an avid runner and did a few triathlons but can no longer put my body through that.......
What do you think about the future?
I really hope some type of cure is discovered.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The 38 years or so prior to my illness setting in!
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
More exercise
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
My life has been pretty good, but things can change in a moment so enjoy your life now!
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Keep moving as long as possible!
