Franc1s77's interview
How did all start?
It started when my daughter as a toddler was misdiagnosed with Spastic Diplegia.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I do have a diagnosis. It took about a years to get it.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
There is very little that can be done to help the conditions of HSP.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Baclofen has been the most useful help for a while.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Walking without aids.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
My family has been very accepting and loving. My close friends have been there for me as well and I think have admired my adaptability.
What things have you stopped doing?
I cannot dance. I cannot walk down a beach hand in hand with a woman. These I have missed a lot.
What do you think about the future?
I hold great hope for the future. I am just not sure how much current technologies will benefit me. It is hard to know whether the conditions of HSP can ever be reversed.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The best years of my life were when my children were very young and life seemed so promising. I was a loving father and the role suited me wonderfully, I thought.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
I would like to have a loving relationship with an intelligent loving woman. I would love to see the world, taste new places and experiences.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
My life has been an adventure.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Make the best of the cards you have been dealt. They are the only cards you will have.
