How did all start?
Started gaining weight in my legs at 13. I didn’t understand why. I’ve done every diet and weight loss method I could and never lost the weight in my legs
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I was diagnosed about a year after I discovered I had it. I’m lucky I have a doctor in my area that knows about it.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I’ve been doing the keto diet and fasting to help with weight loss and pain. I’m scheduled for my first surgery sometime in February or March 2019

The keto diet
What have been your biggest difficulties?
So far everything is going good due to the fact that my insurance is providing treatment
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Everyone has been supportive.
What things have you stopped doing?
I stopped eating carbs and sugar. I’m still in pain daily and I can’t wait for surgery
What do you think about the future?
I’m looking forward to the rest of my life being pain free and able to move better
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
I think the best years of my life are soon to come
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Wear clothes that fit nice. Wearing shorts or a swimsuit. Going out more and being more social. Being more confident. Hiking, biking, swimming, etc
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I did the best I could with what I had.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
It’s not your fault and there is help
