Keyton's interview
How did all start?
Breaking my arm and being sent to my specialist I still go to till this day.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I do and I got it when I was about 5 or 6. It didn't take long at all it just took going to the right doctor.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Getting my plate and screws out was the best option.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Aleve, hot baths, essential oils, and a good attitude!
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Overcoming my major surgery that took about 2 months to heal.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Not at all, they've always been very supportive and helpful.
What things have you stopped doing?
I stopped tumbling when I was younger but that's about it.
What do you think about the future?
I worry about the arthritis and the possibility of more surgeries but I cant worry about things that haven't happened yet either.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
Probably high school to now. I met my boyfriend in high school and we live together now, I keep up with a good majority of my friends and we had a blast in high school, and going to votech and getting my education to be a hairstylist.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
I would have loved to keep up with tumbling or to play softball
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
No rain, no flowers.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Just be as accepting and positive as you can. Take it as it as and don't let being different affect you negatively.
