Greg's interview
How did all start?
It seems to have started with tinnitus in my left ear. I had that for 4 years then I started getting severe vertigo with everything spinning when my eyes were open. I couldn't move without vomiting
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I do not have a diagnosis as of yet. What I do have is an appointment with a Menieres Specialist that took over 6 months to get.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I have stopped using a lot of salt. I took a diuretic for awhile that seemed to help, for a little then no more. My left ear would feel like it was getting pressure, my Left side of my face would go numb and I would get vertigo. One thing that I do that seems to stop all of this nonsense is I wear an ear plug in my left ear which seems to prevent the pressure build up
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
An earplug in my tinnitus side ear (Left)
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Missing work
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
No Change
What things have you stopped doing?
Moving my head quickly would be the biggest
What do you think about the future?
Right now, wearing my earplug seems to have lessoned my vertigo a lot, and until I see a specialist, I will continue to wear my earplug.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The years I get to watch my children raise my grandchildren
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Theme parks, not worry about weather I will be debilitated during an episode
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Shakey
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Research, try different things, look for an expert/specialist
