Charles's interview
How did all start?
I think it started when my Mother started selling Avon when i was a child, although the major symptoms didnt begin until i was in my 40's
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I went to many specialists and allergy Doctors. Most don't listen to you and feel is not chemically related. I never went through with advanced testing, because there is no cure, you have to stay away from most places and people who use scented products.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Alligeries, Doctors are far and few who will listen to you and no help is available.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Staying away from most.people and getting everything out of my living environment that caused problems with my breathing.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Traveling
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
I don't go out much and my family has to change and shower when they come home from many places if they smell.
What things have you stopped doing?
Socializing in public places, going to many stores and malls
What do you think about the future?
It will take many, many years to correct people's behavior. Once it is proven scientifically, like asbestosis and lead poisoning, it will change. Decades to come before this changes.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Go to my kids events at the schools, where everybody showers themselves with toxic fragrance for the show.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I am happy and have been productive, once I changed how other people effect my life.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Start to eliminate products and foods to see what effects you. That includes what people are a part of your life that leave you feeling ill after they leave.
