Lisa's interview
How did all start?
I noticed pink spots on my skin
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
The first dermatologist misdiagnosed me. Six months later, a different dermatologist took a biopsy and was able to give me an accurate diagnosis.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I have only seen a dermatologist who specializes in Mycosis Fungoides. He has treated me with UVB light therapy and I have responded very well to the treatment.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Doing my own research and having a positive outlook.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Fatigue
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Everyone was shocked to hear my diagnosis, but so far I have been able to live a normal life, so I think they tend to think about it less and less, now that I am not showing symptoms.
What things have you stopped doing?
Nothing.
What do you think about the future?
I have a positive outlook on the future.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
Since my diagnosis two years ago, I have lived a good life. I can't say they my life has changed dramatically.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
I am not currently prohibited by what I can and cannot do.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I am thankful everyday.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Stay calm, be positive and find a support network.
