Is it easy to find a partner and/or maintain relationship when you have Osteonecrosis?
People with experience in Osteonecrosis give their opinion on whether it is easy or not to have a partner or to maintain a realationship when you are diagnosed of Osteonecrosis. What are the possible difficulties in having a relationship?
Was lucky find someone that stuck by me, knowing what is to come and how hard the road will be. This disease will definitely let u know if someone loves you for who you are :)
Such a tough question. I can only imagine if someone is hindered to an extreme level, can't work, and is homebound or has limited mobility, it will be tougher to be in a relationshio or find companionship, sadly. I hope and pray loved ones remain at the side of their partners who is DX with ON, but there are those who are not so faithful.
Education is very important. Once you feel that you have researched the disease, it will be easier to explain it to a loved one. They must understand that there may become a point in your life that they will be relied upon more and more to help you with everyday tasks.
It all depends on the character of the partner. Look for a true connection of caring and love. And try to be your best self. Not a pretend self as that won’t lead to a true relationship.
Whilst osteonecrosis is present and being treated it can gave a big impact on your life. If you have an existing relationship you might need them to help you with household tasks and they may need to do a bigger share housework/child rearing. That can put a strain on your relationship and it's important to maintain good communication about your needs and how you both feel. Counselling can help a lot.
If you are single when you get osteonecrosis it could make it more difficult to persue a lot of love interest. You may not be able to work or take part in the same social activities you did before due to pain. Choose dates that you can attend comfortably and be honest about how your condition could affect the new relationship. Remember that surgical treatment can replace your joint so this situation isn't forever
