A Osteoporosis interview , Chronic Kidney Disease, Diabetes insipidus, Pancreatitis.

Tina's interview

How did all start?

When I was 15, and had to sleep on the floor in the winter cause we couldn't afford a bed for me. Then it really kicked in when I was 35 and put on alot of weight due to other health conditions.

Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?

Yes, the first time I asked my doctor. X-rays came back quickly.

For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?

Pancreas, diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, female problems. A internist, they take care of most of my problems I have.

What has been the most useful thing for you so far?

The internet. I can look symptoms up and then ask my doctor about them.

What have been your biggest difficulties?

With so much internal problems,it was hard to keep anything down so that ruled out date nights with my husband. And with the osteoporosis in my left hip, I miss driving. And with brittle diabetes I miss going places by myself.

How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?

They are kinda used to me being sick,so it's like the norm. Yes, my relationships have changed my kids don't come over much anymore. My husband and I haven't been internment in a long time cause of my hip. And I don't have any friends left, cause I can't keep up with them.

What things have you stopped doing?

Driving, going places by myself, taking a shower when ever I want, now someone has to be home in case I fall. Going outside with the grandkids, and spending time in my yard.

What do you think about the future?

I've been brought back to life twice, hospitalized many times and not expected to live. And for some reason God has blessed me to stick around. So I keep a positive attitude.

So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?

20s. Got married (30yrs) had my 3children, and got to experience the world. My parents were very strict, so I was sheltered.

What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?

Go back to work! I've worked since I was 13 and I miss it.

If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?

Restricted, and held prisoner.

Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?

My husband says (this too shall pass). Tommorow is a new day, if you feel like your at your rock bottom all you can do is go up. And keep your faith.
