The diagnoses and treatment will have an impact on the person - but relationships can begin and flourish - they can also withstand the diagnosis.

It depends. As a mastectomy is often required it may be body image or fear of intimacy that is an issue. Cancer diagnosis can be difficult on relationships.

My husband has been through the whole experience I have had with phyllodes, I have had 3 recurrences with phyllodes tumour. It is an emotional rollercoaster and I feel like my husband is the only person that fully understands the effects of having this for 7 years has had on me, I do get worried about recurrence and twinges and also checking myself regularly.

I would recommend speaking to your partner tell them how you feel and what your struggles are and they will support you and care for you anyway love you

I was diagnosed with a high grade malignant phyllodes tumor at 19 years old and was treated with a single mastectomy, radiation and chemotherapy. My current fiancé proposed while I was missing a breast and bald from chemo. Those that mind don’t matter and those that matter don’t mind!
